Description
Nos. 7 and 9, High Street are a pair of houses dating from the 18th century. They are timber-framed with roughcast rendering on a brick plinth, and have sidewalls weatherboarded on the ground floor. The roofs are slate, with a rear extension over a contemporary outshut. The houses are two storeys high and originally had three windows. There are 19th-century 2-light flush casement windows on the first floor and similar windows on the ground floor, with a former 19th-century shop window in the middle. Three doors give access to the houses (two for No. 9), each with two steps and a moulded surround. The outer doorways have a full entablature featuring a lozenge pattern frieze and a modillioned cornice. A central chimney is located on the left side and an axial chimney is on the rear wall of the right-hand side. The buildings are included in the listing for their group value.
