Description
This is a house, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 19th century. Originally, it was timber-framed, but the front was later stuccoed and covered with colourwashed pebbledash, with an old tile roof that is hipped at the front and gabled at the rear. The front of the building was truncated and faced with brick when New Road was constructed northwards from Kibes Lane in the 1830s. The front has a stuccoed brick facade with two sash windows and two recessed doors on the ground floor, and two sash windows on the first floor. There are corbelled eaves and a parapet following the lower half of the rear gable. Inside the rear gable is an exposed braced tie-beam truss with queen struts. A former maltings range once stood to the south of the house, running eastwards, but it has now been demolished.
