Description

The barn at Ward Hill Stud, located 50 meters to the east-north-east of the house, is a Grade II listed structure. This barn, which has been converted into stables, dates from the late 17th century and underwent alterations in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded, topped with a steep tiled roof. The barn has five bays and faces east, with a gabled porch situated in the middle of the east side. There are lower stable ranges linked to the west, which are not of special interest. Inside, the barn includes curved braces to the tie-beams and straight braces in the walls. The roof is a clasped-purlin type with inclined queen-strut and collar trusses.
