Description
The building is a gymnasium at St Edmund's College, originally a parish chapel, located 30 meters southeast of The Hermitage. It was constructed in 1818 and features a timber frame that is plastered over a 2-meter high red brick plinth laid in Flemish bond. The roof is made of slate. This tall single-storey structure faces west and has a playful Gothick timber porch with clustered colonnettes. It includes four tall pointed windows with Y tracery. The rear of the building is white weatherboarded above the high brick plinth and has a six-panel door along with windows similar to those at the front. There is also a white weatherboarded northern extension that serves as the gymnasium.
