Description
Allan Hall at St Edmund's College is a seminary that now serves as a school building, constructed in 1905, likely by F A Walters, and extended in 1932, probably by E J Walters. The building is made of yellow stock brick with red brick plinth dressings and arches. The northern part features a moulded Portland stone plinth-offset and carved stone mullioned windows. It is three storeys high with dormers and has an L-shaped blocked section facing east, which adjoins the refectory building. There is also a later long southern wing that ends in a five-storey tower. The hall is designed in a Neo-Georgian style, characterized by a modillioned cornice and sash windows. A central port cochere is supported by Ionic pilasters and features a four-centred arch on each side. The northern end of the eastern wing, which faces the entrance court, is particularly elaborate.
