Description
Standon Post Office is a house that has been converted into a post office, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th or 20th century. The building features a timber frame with roughcast exterior and panelled pargetting on the north side. It is a two-storey hall and crosswing structure facing west, topped with steeply pitched old red tile roofs. The north wing has a hipped roof at the back and a lateral chimney, along with a continuous lean-to extension on the north side. The front of the building has a jetty supported by two brackets and plain bargeboards above a flush casement window with a Gothick cast iron frame. There is a small rectangular bay window below. The right-hand section of the building has a similar upper window and a 20th-century shop front with a door below.
