Description
Nether Hall is a house dating from the early 16th century, which was significantly extended in the mid 19th century. It is enclosed by a high wall made of flint and brick. The building is a large, two-storey house with an attic, featuring plastered walls and unequal gables from two parallel ranges that face south towards the road. There is a brick wing that is set back on the right side. The house is primarily constructed from 19th-century brick, incorporating a two-storey early 16th-century wing that was formerly jettied. The small open hall has been replaced by a mid-Victorian two-storey and attic gabled block that runs parallel to the older part of the house. There are inserted 19th-century fireplaces. The large south gable projects and has a porch at the angle. The windows include two-light and three-light casements, along with a small window in the apex of the larger gable. The house features cusped bargeboards and dripboards over the windows. This historic 16th-century house, enlarged in the 19th century, is part of a picturesque group along with its barns in this area of the Conservation Area.
