Description
Endways is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber-framed structure with plaster and a black weatherboarded apron. The south gable displays chevron pargetting, and the roof is half-hipped and thatched. There is a modern porch extension on the west side, which is plastered with a weatherboarded apron and has a gabled red tile roof. The house is long and has one and a half storeys, facing west with its gable towards the road. A large modern gabled porch extension is located in the middle of the west side, and the floor level is lower at the north end. There is a large central chimney positioned one third from the south end and an external gable chimney at the north. The house has a three-unit, lobby entry plan and features three gabled dormers along the wall plates beneath the half-hipped thatch rooflets. The main roof has a laced ridge, and small paned casement windows are present. Endways is an historic timber-framed thatched house and is part of a group of buildings in this area of the Conservation Area.
