Description
Thyme Cottage is a house that combines a 18th century or earlier structure with an early 19th century former cottage at the northern end. Located in Braughing village, the building features timber frames that are roughcast. The main house has a steep thatched roof, while the cottage has a low-pitched red pantile roof.
The house is two stories tall and consists of two rooms in length, designed with an end-chimney plan facing east. It has a centrally located door flanked by two windows on each floor. The windows are flush 3-light casements with small panes. The door is boarded and has a flat hood supported by brackets, although it has been renewed.
At the northern end, the cottage is also two stories tall and follows a similar two-room layout. It features a stable-type door at the southwest corner, with a small window next to it, and one window on the left-hand side for each floor. The ground floor has 3-light flush casement windows, while the first floor has small-paned casements. This building forms a picturesque group and was formerly known as Nos 7 and 9.
