Description

The granary at Hamels Park Farm, located 80 meters southeast of the farmhouse, dates from the 17th century or earlier. It is a small, one-and-a-half-storey building with a timber frame that is weatherboarded and features a very steeply pitched roof now covered in corrugated iron. The structure has two bays and an exceptionally robust upper floor made of chamfered and stopped beams, both across and along the building, with closely spaced joists that are pegged in place. Originally, it had a collar-rafter single-framed roof, which was later converted to a side purlin roof. The upper floor window on the south gable shows head mortices for a four-light diamond mullioned window. The granary faces west and includes a gabled dormer in the roof and double doors, which are a later addition. The south gable is finished with a red brick skin.
