Description
This fountain, located on a terrace about 30 meters southwest of Woodhall Park, was laid out around 1862 for Abel Smith. It is made of ashlar and has a circular shape. The central circle is raised, with sides that are ramped up, resembling a segment of a sphere. The bowl sits on a bulbous stem. Surrounding the fountain are four equally spaced moulded blocks topped with ball finials, and outside these are four smaller circles, now planted, connected by segmentally curved walls. The fountain features heavy classical mouldings and is included for its group value with the nearby Woodhall Park.
