Description

These are wrought-iron garden gates, dating around 1901, situated at the bridge over the Mimram river on the Epcombs estate. They were part of a significant remodelling of the house and grounds, undertaken by the architects Wood and Ainslie. The gates are in an 18th-century style, influenced by Adam designs, and feature scrollwork, leaves, and decorative drops on top of substantial oak posts with cut ogee tops.
