Description
No. 251 and 253 on Hertingfordbury Road is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of grey-brown brick in Flemish bond, topped with an old tiled roof behind a stone-coped parapet.
The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with its squat proportions suggesting it may have been refronted from an earlier structure. On the first floor, there are three windows: a 20th-century plain glazed window on the left, a blank recess in the center, and a 9-pane sash window on the right, all set under rubbed brick flat arches. The ground floor features a similar window arrangement, with a central door that has six fielded and raised panels, framed by a moulded eared architrave. This door is topped with a pulvinated frieze, a modillioned cornice, and a modillioned pediment.
The interior has not been inspected.
