Description
Old Forge House is an 18th-century house that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure, with old tile and modern tiled roofs, and red brick chimneys that have oversailing bands. The house has a central entry plan and is two storeys high.
On the exterior, both the first and ground floors have two flush-set 16-pane sash windows. The ground floor includes a modern six-panel door with an architrave surround, a shallow fanlight, and a cornice door hood supported by cut bracket modillions. To the left, there is a recessed one-bay wing (No.257) that is three storeys tall, featuring one sash window on the first floor, a small casement window on the second floor, and a modern wide small-paned bow window on the ground floor.
The interior has not been inspected. Old Forge House is included as part of a significant grouping with Nos. 251 and 253.
