Description
The barn and stables at Mill Farm, located on Hertingfordbury Road, consist of a barn dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, which was altered in the 19th century, and a stable range from the early 19th century. The barn is timber-framed with weatherboarding and an old tiled roof, while the stables are made of red brick with a Welsh slate roof.
The exterior of the barn features a four-bay structure with braced tie beams, where the braces are coach nailed, and a queen strut roof. The walls have thin section studding with primary bracing, and there are boarded doors on the north side. The barn also has a gabled midstrey facing the yard to the south, and an open-fronted lean-to with a tiled roof on the south side. The barn forms the north side of the yard and is connected to a range of stable buildings on the east, which run along the street frontage. These stable buildings are two storeys high, constructed of red brick, and have stable doors leading into the yard, with a loft above. The interior has not been inspected.
