Description

Nos. 143 and 145 on High Street are two dwellings that originally functioned as a house, dating from the late 17th century. The building has been cased, reroofed, and extended in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber frame that is rendered, with yellow stock brick casing and additional structures. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with slate.

The building consists of three cells and is two storeys high. The ground floor has 19th-century brickwork with two entrances featuring plank doors, and two three-light casements, all set back with segmental heads. On the first floor, there are two three-light and one two-light flush frame casements in the rendering. A cross axial ridge stack is located to the right of centre along the front ridge. The right gable end is fully cased in 19th-century brick and has two-light casements. At the rear, there is a two-storey lean-to made of stock brick from the 19th century, which has a shallower pitch. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
