Description

WATTON-AT-STONE HIGH STREET TL 3019 (Northeast side) Watton-at-Stone 9/178 24.11.66 Nos. 93, and 95 GV II

House, now a dwelling and offices. C16 or early C17 origins, part rebuilt in C18, altered C20. Timber frame, rendered. Tiled roofs. Earlier 2 bays set back with later range extending forwards to left to form an L on plan. 2 storeys. Earlier range has ground floor entrance and large shop windows, first floor flush frame 16 pane sash. Plinth and weatherboarded dado to low 1 storey 1 bay addition to right with a large C20 6 pane window. C17 red brick multiform stack, originally external on right end, incorporated into lower addition. Exposed plates and steep pitch on right end. Projecting to left is later range. Pargetting and hipped roof to front with steps up to a recessed 4 panelled door, ground floor 12 and first floor 16 pane flush frame sashes. Left return external stack towards front, weatherboarding towards rear. To rear: some cement rendering, added stack to rear gable end of cross range, casement windows. Interior: chamfered binding beam, arched braces from jowled posts, possible crown post roof.
