Description
Nos. 141 and 143 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. The front dates from the 18th century and is built on an older structure. It features red brick in English bond and has a painted wood canted bay on the upper floors. The building has a stone-coped parapet that hides a hipped plain tiled roof. It stands three storeys tall with a panelled parapet and a modillioned eaves cornice, and there are stacks located at the rear.
The building is one bay wide and has a canted bay that extends through the first and second floors. The second floor has 18-pane glazing-bar sash windows on the outer faces, while the centre window has glazing bars only in the upper light. The first floor windows are similar, having glazing bars only in the upper light and a modillion cornice above them. There are paired herms in the style of the 17th century between the windows on both the first and second floors. The ground floor features a plate glass shop front with fluted end piers and a central door.
