Description

127, 129, and 131 High Street are houses that have been converted into shops below and offices above. The front of the building dates from around 1800 and features a later 19th-century canted bay, while the rear is built on 17th-century structures. The core is timber framed, with orange/red brick cladding on the left side and brown brick on the right. The roofs are plain tiled and hidden behind stone-coped parapets. The building stands three storeys high and has cross ridge stacks on the left. It has two bays, with a canted bay on the left side for the first and second floors, which includes pilaster mullions and roundel decorations. The windows are sash style, with diagonal boarding between them. On the right side, there is one original 16-pane glazing-bar sash window on each floor, featuring old glass and gauged brick heads above. The shop fronts below are made of plate glass, with a canted bay to the left of the center. There is a flat hood above the shop front supported by scrolled brackets, and to the right, there is a three-quarter glazed and panelled door.
