Description
The building is a former lock up, now serving as a workshop or shed for number 87 High Street in Watton-at-Stone. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of stock brick with a slate roof. The structure is a small rectangular chamber that has a smaller room added to the rear later in the 19th century, which was used as a constable's office at the front and contained two cells. The original door facing the road has been blocked and features a chamfered surround with a slightly cambered head, along with kneelers to the coped gable parapet. The current entrance is located on the right side of the building. This lock up is included for its group value with nearby structures.
