Description
No. 123 High Street is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with heating added in the later 17th century and a rear extension from the 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is rendered, topped by a steeply pitched tiled roof. It consists of three cells and has one storey plus an attic, possibly originally designed as an open hall. The entrance is located to the right of the center and has a moulded frame with a shaped bracketed hood. To the left of the entrance are two 2-light flush frame small pane casements, while to the right is a 3-light casement. There are also two 2-light gabled dormers. At the rear, there are two stacks located at the center and left, with the central stack being larger; both have been rebuilt. The 19th-century rear additions include a slate-roofed lean-to and a wing to the right. Inside, the exposed frame features fairly large scantling and an irregularly cambered tie beam.
