Description

Ford Bridge, which spans the River Rib, is a road bridge built in 1766 to replace a 17th-century wooden bridge. It was repaired in 1773. The bridge is constructed of red brick and features two round-arched openings with a triangular cutwater between them. The brick parapets rise to the center and widen at the abutments. The brickwork is laid in Flemish bond, with the arches turned in two 9-inch rings. Additionally, there are four circular tie-plates made of cast iron over each arch.
