Description

The Lodge at Ware Park is a gatelodge that has been converted into a house, dated 1883 as indicated by a tiled panel on the west chimney. It is constructed of plum brick with stone dressings and features a half-timbered gabled upper floor on the front projection, topped with red tiled roofs. The lower part of the projection includes a canted stone bay window with mullions and transoms. To the right, there is a gabled open wooden porch. The large projecting side chimney on the left has a stone plinth, a window surround for the inglenook, a chamfered surround for the tiled moulded date panel, and a moulded string course that rises over the panel. The upper chimney has gabled tiled offsets, pilaster strips, and a corbelled head to the shaft. The building also features moulded stone mullioned windows and chevron patterned bargeboards with turned finials, along with porch ornamentation and the tiled panel, all reflecting the style of the Aesthetic Movement.
