Description
The Lodge is a gatelodge, now a private house, built in the mid-18th century and heightened in the early 19th century. It is constructed of grey brick and features a steep hipped red tile roof. This small, picturesque lodge has a semi-circular eastern end that faces the road. The eastern end includes a wide full-height recessed panel on each side of the central door, executed in header-bond. On either side of the door, there is a two-light flush mullioned wooden window with leaded lights and plate casement, symmetrically arranged within the recessed panel, topped with a segmental arch. The door has a flat gauged arch above it, and there is a tall gabled dormer window at the peak of the steep semi-circular end of the roof, situated in front of a central red brick chimney. The dormer features bargeboards and a two-light casement window. Each long side of the house has a door and two similar leaded mullioned windows. The Lodge was formerly the gatelodge to the mansion called Offley Holes, which no longer exists.
