Iron railings and entrance gates, to the Ware Cemetery, laid out in 1854. c1855. The railings run around the apex of the site from Wengeo Lane, and along the south side of Westmill Road to the Lodge, also c1855, now substantially altered, and not included. The gates are in the centre, facing east to the junction of Westmill Road, Wengeo Lane and Watton Road, and within the cemetery flanking the driveway which leads to the mortuary chapels (qv). Cast-iron, twin leaves in Gothic style, with moulded cusped ogee trefoil heads, and foliated poppy heads above the top rail. Stucco faced brick gate piers, with plinth, setback over cyma recta roll moulding, recessed moulded lancet panels in front face, and projecting moulded caps. Railing set on cast-iron saddlebacks over dwarf walls in yellow-brown stock brick. Uprights of similar pattern to gates, with foliated poppy heads, but without the traceried head below the top rail. Bracing provided at intervals with short brick buttresses, cast-iron saddlebacks, and ogee shaped braces. Railing in this position have finials in the form of a miniature church on a moulded octagonal pedestal. Associated with the mortuary chapels. Included for group value.
