Description
Stable Cottage at Channocks Farmhouse is a house built in 1868, as indicated by the '1868' and 'IH' inscriptions on quatrefoil datestones. It was constructed for John Hodgson Esq of Gilston Park and is located 30 metres northwest of the main farmhouse, attached to the southwest corner of the farm buildings. The cottage is designed in a white brick Gothic style and stands two storeys tall, facing south. It features a gabled red tiled roof and has 2-light cast iron lattice windows with stone lintels and flush stone sills, although some of the casements have been replaced with wood. This picturesque Gothic farm cottage was added by the Gilston Park Estate to complement the group of farm buildings and the contemporary red brick Gothic farmhouse built by the estate in 1854. It is included for its group value.
