Description

Channocks Farm House is a house built in 1854 for John Hodgson Esq of Gilston Park. It is a substantial, two-storey Gothic farmhouse made of red brick and slate, typical of the middle-sized farms on the Gilston Park Estate. The design is similar to Eastwick Hall and the former farmhouse now known as The Lion Inn, both located in Eastwick parish. The house faces west and features a double-pile range on the left, a projecting gabled cross wing on the right, and a lean-to roofed wooden porch in the angle. There are three windows with three-light casements set under gauged arches. The house has heavy moulded bargeboards with central pendants. This impressive mid-19th century Gothic estate farmhouse has seen little alteration and is part of a group in the landscape that includes Channocks Cottage, Stable Cottage, and contemporary farm buildings.
