Description
The walled garden at Walkern Hall, located 15 meters to the south-southeast of the hall, dates from the 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed partly of red brick and partly of brown stock brick, featuring York stone capping and a pediment above the west entrance. This large trapezoidal garden has walls approximately 3 meters high. Along the western part of the north wall, there are lean-to greenhouses from the 19th century. A minor entrance is set in a thickened pier in the middle of the south side, and the garden is supported by closely spaced external buttress pilasters. The west gateway rises above the wall and includes a flat segmental arch with a recessed panel above, along with a York stone notional pediment adorned with acroteria. The entrance is completed with decorative iron gates.
