Colliers End TL32 SE STANDON CAMBRIDGE ROAD (west side)

1/21 Farmhouse at Rigery Farm (along track, 900m from road) 24.1.67 (Formerly listed as Eigerys Farm House, Collier' s End) II

Farmhouse. C16 or earlier, C17 S wing, C20 W wing. Timber-frame exposed with plastered panels, brick sill and steep old red tile roofs. Plastered W wing with red tiled roof. A T-shaped house of 2-storeys but stepped roof height with one and a half storeys C20 wing on W. At N end a late medieval former open hall with cross-passage probably where S fireplace is. Later C17 central chimney, inserted floor and dormers, and higher S wing jettied on S end with large knee brackets. Stair in formerly W service wing removed c1975 (RCHM Typescript). E front has: tall diagonal stack with recessed corners, 2 gabled dormers to lower N part, 2- light and 3-light casement windows (renewed) and half glazed door under left hand dormer. Gabled jettied S end (repaired after collapse c1975) has 3-light casement and French doors below. C20 wing has main door and 3 gabled dormers rising through the eaves. Interior has exposed timbers and C17 large open fireplace with canted back in S room.
