Description

TEWIN MARDEN HILL TL 21 SE 5/148 The Cottage (formerly 24.11.66 listed as Marden Hill House Annexe, Marden Hill Farm Coach-house and [former] Stable building) GV II

Former coachman's house and stables to Marden Hill House (q.v.), now a dwelling. c.1790 for R. Mackay. Red brick. Tiled roof. 5 bays. 1 storey and attics, originally 1 storey stables to left. Central and outer door openings, that to centre now glazed. Studded plank outer doors with small pane rectangular fanlights, recessed with segmental heads, gabled pentice added to right. To right of centre is a 2 light small pane casement with a segmental head, similar gabled half dormer above. Central and outer blocked round headed loft openings. A window inserted to left of centre breaking eaves. Right gable end stuccoed. Left gable end; ground floor lunette, first floor weatherboarding, blocked loft door. To rear blocked and blind openings, round headed windows. Extending from left end is a later block with 2 doors, 4 single light segmental headed casements, 5 first floor blind panels. Interior not inspected.
