Description
Quiet Cottage is a barn that was converted into a house in the 18th century, with further modifications around 1830 and an extension added around 1962. The structure features a timber frame on a brick base, with plastered walls and a weatherboard apron at the eastern end. There are low plastered extensions at both the front and rear of the building. The steep roof is covered with old red tiles, which continues at a lower pitch over the extensions. A central red brick chimney is present. This 1½-storey house is set back from the street and faces north; it was originally a barn associated with Hall House. The front of the house is symmetrical, featuring two windows and a central door, with small paned casements. Inside, the framework is exposed, revealing the original layout of two 1½-storey houses that share a chimney. The stairs are located in the outer rear corners, and there are cross-beams and axial bridging beams corresponding to each handed plan.
