Description
Hall House is a house dating from the 16th century, with a gabled front wing added in the 18th or 19th century. It features a timber frame on a red brick base, with plastered panelled pargetting and a dark weatherboard apron at the rear. The steep roofs are covered with old red tiles and have bellcast eaves, with the east gable triangle being tile-hung. The house is 1½ storeys tall and has a three-cell internal chimney plan, facing north. The front eaves have been raised, and there is a two-storey short gabled front extension for a later entrance at the northeast. An old internal chimney is located a third of the way from the east, with a later chimney on the west gable. At the rear, there are two gabled dormers flanking the chimney. A 20th-century extension is present at the southwest. The front features a battened door and a three-light upper window in the northeast wing, along with two similar windows on the ground floor, and a small upper window under the eaves. The house was associated with the Wheeler family around 1545.
