Description
The Boot Public House is a house that has been converted into a public house. It dates back to the 16th century or earlier and was brick nogged in the 19th century, with an extension to the south. The first floor features exposed timber frames with white painted brick infill, which continues down to the ground floor. The southern wing has a brick front but a thin timber frame at the rear. The building has a steep old red tile roof that is hipped to the north, while the southern wing has a lower pitched roof that is hipped to the south. There is a narrow junction bay that projects to the front and rear, with a roof that matches the southern part of the building.
The structure is two storeys high and consists of three cells, along with a crosswing that has been re-roofed uniformly. A large central chimney is located at the lower end of the hall. The entrance was formerly under the southern crosswing. The southern wing has two storeys and is aligned with a separate door, which has a window to the left and two windows to the right. The windows include two-light and three-light casements that are horizontal in the northern part, and square with segmental arches for the lower windows in the southern wing. The two ground floor right-hand windows are 8/8 pane flush box sashes. The southern wing features dentilled brick eaves.
