Description
The Entrance Barn at Water Lane Farm is a 16th-century barn that has been converted into a gatehouse. It features a timber frame resting on a brick sill, with dark weatherboarding and steep old red tile roofs. The barn is a tall structure with four bays, located along the roadside. On the eastern side, there is a gabled projecting porch in the second bay from the south, which now serves as a covered carriageway providing access to the yard. The barn includes jowled posts, a clasped purlin roof supported by straight wind braces and straight braces to the tie-beams, as well as angled queen-post trusses without collars.
