Description
This is a barn located at Norcott Court, dating from the 16th century, with an 18th century eastern facade facing the forecourt of the house. The barn features a timber frame that is cased in red brick and has a steep hipped roof covered with old red tiles. It is a long structure oriented north-south, with a gabled projecting porch on the west side, positioned off center to the north. The 18th century false front on the east side is designed to conceal the roofslope and includes two levels of three blind recesses with segmental heads, decorated with vertical bands of blue brick. There is a moulded cornice at the parapet, and a firemark from the Sun Insurance Company is located in the upper recess at the north end. At the apex of the southern hip of the roof, there is a scrolly wrought iron wind vane. The adjoining house, which was rebuilt in 1888, is listed separately at Grade II.
