Description
Stuart Cottage is a house that was originally two houses but is now one. It dates from the 18th century and has a brick exterior with a roughcast rear, featuring red brick in Flemish bond and steep old red tile roofs. The two-storey building faces north and is set back from the pavement. On the first floor, there are two 2-light casement windows, and on the ground floor, there are two 3-light casement windows below the first-floor windows. The door is located between the windows, and the doorway on the left-hand side has been altered to a narrow 2-light casement. The entrance features a battened oak door. The eaves are dentilled brick, and the ground floor openings have rusticated stucco surrounds with keystones and stepped quoins on the jambs. The first floor has plain surrounds similar to those on the ground floor. There is a lozenge made of black bricks at the top of the west gable. Inside, there is a gable chimney on the west side and a smaller internal chimney to the left of the door. The building is included for its group value.
