Description

Honeysuckle Cottage is a house, originally part of an older structure which was later re-faced in brick during the 18th century. It underwent alterations and was divided in the 19th century. The house is built of red brick in English bond, with knapped flint panels and plum brick on the first floor of the east end. It has steep, old red tile roofs. The western part of the house has a slightly higher roof. It is a two-storey and cellar house, set back from the pavement near the church entrance, facing north. A lower, two-storey gabled rear wing, located to the southeast, now serves as a garage with double doors. The north front features a plinth and a corbelled eaves course with projecting brick headers. It has three two-light flush casement windows on the first floor. The right-hand part of the front has two flush box sash windows with 8/8 panes and cambered arches, framing a plank front door. Similar arches are present above a small two-light window on the left and over windows in two blocked doorways, which flank a segmental bowed window on the left-hand side. Two windows are positioned on either side of the internal gable chimney at the east end. A similar chimney is located at the west gable, and an internal chimney is found to the left of the entrance door.
