Description
The North Obelisk in front of Akeman Street Baptist Church is a memorial obelisk, dating from around 1861, dedicated to Richard Glover, who passed away in the same year and was the pastor when the chapel was rebuilt. This painted stone obelisk is one of two identical memorials that flank the path and face east. It features a short obelisk with a moulded base, set on a tall tapering plinth that has a moulded cap and base, along with an inscription on the east face. The obelisk is surrounded by a low stone border, which includes stone blocks at the middle of each side and small obelisks at the corners.
