Description

This is a 17th-century barn located 40 meters to the north-northwest of Old Park Lodge in Little Gaddesden, Ashridge Park. The barn features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded and has a steep old red tile roof. It consists of three bays and faces south, with a later lean-to extension on the eastern end that now serves as the entry. The structure includes jowled posts and straight braces to the tie-beams. The roof is supported by angled queen-strut trusses in a clasped-purlin design without collars, and there is some brick infill within the frame.
