Description

This is an 18th-century house, or possibly earlier. It's built of red and blue bricks laid in a distinctive pattern. The roof is steeply pitched and tiled, with a half-hipped western end. The house has one-and-a-half stories and originally had three rooms facing south, with the west end of the house facing the road. A large internal chimney is located a third of the way from the north end, with two diagonally set square shafts. A similar chimney is found on the south side, serving the western part of the house. There are three windows on the south front of the house, with a small gabled dormer in the roof above the middle window. A door is located in the eastern part of the building. The windows are flush casements with leaded glazing; one window is a two-light design with an old iron casement. A matching wing was added in the 20th century on the northeast side, with a lateral chimney. Historical records suggest this might have been a 17th-century hall house (according to Senar, 1983, page 91).
