Description
The barn at Ashridge Farm, located southeast of the farmhouse, is a late 16th-century threshing barn that has been extended in the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, with some brick infill. The roof is made of old tiles, hipped on the east side and gabled with a half hip on the west. The structure features five framed bays along with one additional framed bay extension. There is a midstrey in the third bay frame on the west and on the north side. The extension has a floor and is characterized by brick infill and daub panels on the exterior, supported by a high sole plate on an old brick plinth. Inside, the barn has a queen post roof with clasped purlins and reducing principal rafters, although some windbraces have been replaced.
