Description
This is a mid-19th century house located on the east side of High Street, Markyate. It is constructed of plum brick with red brick arches and a black stucco plinth. The house is two storeys high and two windows wide. The architectural details are similar to the adjacent number 45. A door is positioned on the right-hand side. All windows have cambered arches. The left-hand window on each floor is a 12/12 pane sash window, while the window above the doorway is a 9/9 pane sash window. The entrance is via a six-panel door, which is topped by rectangular fanlight. An internal north gable chimney abuts the chimney of number 45. The eaves have a narrow soffit. The building is included on the list for its group value.
