Description

This is an early 19th-century plastered brick house, likely dating to around 1840. It is situated at a right angle to Bradford Street, with its main front facing south. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range on the south front and a one-window range on the west front. The first floor features three-light Venetian-style windows. The ground floor has two projecting window surrounds with pilasters and cornices; one window has a double-hung sash with margin glazing bars, while the other now contains a doorway. The central section projects forward slightly and is rusticated on the ground floor, with pillars in antis and a cornice. The west front has a 20th-century shop window. The roof is slate-covered, with wide overhanging eaves supported by shaped brackets. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the buildings running from number 24 to 56A on the east side, and from number 37 to 89 (including numbers 57, 61, and 61A) on the west side.
