Description
Dragon House is a Grade II listed building located on Bradford Street in Bocking. It is primarily a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house featuring a jettied upper storey, although parts of the structure are believed to date back to between 1480 and 1490. A notable plaster head on the center of the first storey may represent Anne Boleyn, suggesting a historical connection, or it could have been the sign of an earlier inn, possibly called the Angel. The house has two storeys and a four-window range with casement windows. The first storey windows include some old leaded lights, while the ground storey windows have glazing bars with small panes, including one oriel bay window. The entrance features a six-panel door with a moulded architrave, and there is a cart entrance at the south end. The roof is tiled.
Dragon House is part of a group of listed buildings that includes Nos 19 to 41 on the west side and Nos 4 to 20 on the east side, as well as forming a group with Bawn Cottage and Bawn Close. Additionally, it is grouped with Nos 37 to 89 on the west side and Nos 24 to 56A on the east side.
