Description

The Bawn is a late 18th century building with a timber-framed and plastered front, which likely covers an earlier timber-framed structure from the 17th century. It stands three storeys high and includes a cellar. The facade features a four-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars, all set in flush cased frames. The entrance boasts a six-panel door topped by a rectangular fanlight and is adorned with a cornice supported by console brackets. The roof is covered with slate. Inside, there is some panelling, exposed ceiling joists on the first storey, and an 18th-century staircase. The Bawn is part of a group of listed buildings that includes Nos 19 to 41 on the west side and Nos 4 to 20 on the east side, as well as a group from Nos 37 to 89 on the west side that forms a connection with Nos 24 to 56A on the east side.
