Description
The Church of St James Vicarage, built in 1871 by A G Habershon, was designed in 1860 alongside the church. It is constructed of white gault brick with flush stone and yellow brick dressings, topped with a slate roof, and is designed in the Early Gothic style. The building is two stories tall and has a square plan, featuring gable ends on the west and south sides with moulded bargeboards. The ground and first floors have twin-arched casements with chamfered stone lintels and flush brick arches. A wooden gabled porch includes chamfered posts, panels, and an indented bargeboard, along with traceried side lights and a two-arch, half-glazed door. Diagonal-set conjoined chimney stacks are also present. The vicarage is included for its group value with the church.
