Description
Taurus is a house located at No. 36 North Street in Great Dunmow, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a hipped peg-tiled roof. A red brick stack is positioned on the center line of the south flank wall.
On the first floor, there are three double-hung sash windows featuring moulded surrounds and margin glazing bars. The ground floor includes a simple door surround with a flat hood at the south end, along with another double-hung sash window that has a moulded surround and margin glazing bars. To the left, two additional sashes with horns and margin glazing replace an early 19th-century shopfront.
At the rear, there is a one-storey former outbuilding with 20th-century casements. The interior retains an early 19th-century central beam and wall framing with diagonal braces. The building is listed for its group value.
