Description
15 Market Hill is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, grey gault brick, and a slate roof with a red brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high.
The front east elevation has four first-floor windows, all with stucco voussoirs and sash windows that have glazing bars, with three 4x4 panes and one window to the south with 3x4 panes. On the ground floor, there is a window similar to those on the first floor, an early 20th-century shop window, and a door with an integral fascia board that has two panes and a fully glazed door. The early 19th-century doorway features a simple cornice hood, reeded jambs, a fret-decorated overlight, and a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed and the lower ones being flush bead moulded.
The rear west elevation has a first floor that is timber-framed and plastered, with two windows; one has a moulded architrave and is a sash with 4x4 panes, while the other is a 20th-century three-light casement with a simple transom. The ground floor is brick with a broad segment-headed window, which is a tripartite sash with glazing bars comprising two 2x4 panes, one 4x4 pane, and an upper central sash that is now a single pane. The north end elevation features a segment-headed doorway with a four-panelled door on the ground floor and a single-light casement window on the first floor.
