Description

The building is a dance school that was formerly used as maltings, located in the Central Arcade and dating from the mid-19th century. It features yellow gault brickwork laid in Flemish bond and has a gabled slate roof. The structure consists of three low storeys, with a single-storey section to the west that includes the entrance.

On the second floor, there are five rectangular openings equipped with horizontal ventilator strips. The first floor has five 2-light casement windows with segmental arched heads, along with a double-hung sash window that contains 16 panes. The ground floor features a door opening, a blocked door opening, three similar segmental arched 2-light casements, and two blind arches that were originally part of an open arcade with a central pier and strings at the springing. One of the arches is now infilled with brick, while the other is partly boarded and has a 2-light casement window.

The building once extended westward to the High Street, and remnants of two additional arches from the arcade are now incorporated into a lean-to block with a slate roof. This section includes a 4-pane window and a segmental-headed 4-pane window. The High Street frontage is marked by two painted brick piers topped with ball finials, with a parapet in between. A door with moulded panels is set within an elliptical brick arch that features bowtel moulding, interrupted by moulded small capitals and bases.
