Description
Cumberland House is a house located on South Street in Manningtree. It dates from the 18th century or earlier and has undergone later alterations and additions. The building is faced with gault brick and features a red plain tiled roof, with chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. It has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The house includes two flat-headed dormers and a dentilled eaves cornice. There is a four-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, each with gauged brick arches above. The central entrance consists of a four-panel, two-light door, which is accessed by steps from the left. The entrance platform is enclosed by cast iron railings that have moulded and pointed finials, roundels, and open finials on the posts. Additionally, there are six circular cast iron tie plates on each floor.
